There are some people who know exactly what they want to do in life and they work hard to achieve it, while others fall into a career and if it fits, they pursue it. But, if you consider that you spend most of your adult life in the workplace, it makes perfect sense to ensure that your position offers you a sense of fulfilment and job satisfaction. If not, a career change may be in order.
You owe it to yourself to get the best job for you. It isn’t all about the money either- it’s about enjoyment and caring about the end result. If you secure employment with a high salary but hate going in every single day, it is pointless. A lower paid job might be much better if you can manage with less income; it depends on your personal situation. A career change reflects your personality. It’s all about you and playing to your strengths. Its’ about listening to that inner voice and saying what do you really want?
Sometimes we rush into a career without giving it due consideration. Perhaps the opportunity comes up and we take it, it feels right at that time, but any career can change. There are a lot of external factors that can turn a great job into a bad one. Unfortunately in this day and age, there’s always the risk of redundancy or cut-backs, a busy job might suddenly turn into a frantic one if you have to cover someone else’s workload. Former 9-5 hours can turn into extensive hours and working through lunch and into the evening. When a job becomes highly pressured with little recompense to aid the stress, it’s time to say goodbye.
It’s never too late for a career change. You simply have to consider what you want to do. Age or experience should not prevent you from going after your dream job. You may have to study for qualifications, you may need to get one foot in the door initially especially if you have little experience, but where there is a will, there is a way. Perhaps you would like a career change but lack confidence, perhaps you feel that en-route you have lost your sense of direction and identity. Maybe it’s time to evaluate your position in life and seriously consider what you want to do in the future.
Think about studying for extra qualifications or, indulge in some personal development options and invest in your future. If you wish to build confidence and define who you are so that you can ascertain future goals, look no further than NLP and the Enneagram. This is a powerful resource that promotes self-assurance and enables you play to your strengths. It’s also excellent for helping you to build rapport by identifying other personality traits perfect for any possible job interview.
Life is too short to be stuck in a job which is not fulfilling. If you want job satisfaction and need a new challenge, consider a career change now and find the perfect job for you.
